Yesturday, 11 Nov. 2010, my young womens had to meet up at the chapel for our song practice for our program this upcoming Sunday. Our practice was told that it'll start at 11:00 am. I woke up early so I could walk over to one of my young women's(Tulo Langi) house and pick her up. Tulo is a beehive and she was just welcomed into young womens this year. So it takes a whole hour to walk from my house to the chapel .. so I decided to walk at 10:00 and get to Tulo's house around 10:30 ish. 9:45 passed .. im in the kitchen waiting for my sister to make me breakfast. 9:50 came by .. im serving my mom w/ her wants. 10:00 came by .. im still waiting for my eggs. 10:15 .. my breakfast is ready. 10:30 .. I didnt wanna walk anymore .. so I asked my sister to drop me off. I was hoping Tulo didnt leave yet cus I promised her ill pick her up. It was 10:45, before I opened the door I gotta phone call .. it was Tulo:
"Hi, is Ilaise there?"
"Yeah .. this is Ise .. Tulo?"
(Sounding sad)"Yeah .. you at church already?"
"No no .. Im on my way to your house"
(Sound excited) "Oh okay! I thought you left me"
"No no .. ill never forget about you!"
"Oh okay!!! See you in a bit. Bye!"
She's soo cute(: I love my young beehives. Why am I writing about this? Because when I picked her up .. her face was just filled with that big smile of hers. It took me back to the days when I was a beehive .. my first year in young womens, man the nervewrecking .. but theres also another meaning to it .. we'll get there soon(: So, after our song practice .. Luse, Gaby, Tulo, &I decided to walk home .. but first, we turned with our refreshments our leader prepared for us and sat at the park just eating and laughing at random stuff. I can tell Tulo had lots of fun(: We continued laughing as we walked .. and because her talk was only 1 min long, I chose to help her .. so we turned to her house, where we had more laughs in her kitchen as I help her with her talk. I also helped Gaby w/ her talk. We had a lot of fun just bonding and working on our talks for Sunday(: The next day(today) Tulo's mom called me thanking me for taking her daughter to the practice and thanking me for helping her with her talk. Tulo felt closer to the young womens and she doesn't feel unwelcome as she thought she would be. Her mom told me Tulo wouldn't stop talking about yesturday .. the day she had fun w/ a couple of her young womens. So my other meaning about writing this blog is because when I was a beehive, I was scared to be in young womens because I was still young .. all the other girls were older and much mature than me. I didn't know what to do in order to fit in perfectly. I wanted Tulo to not feel as I once did .. I was in her shoes and I know how it feels to be looked down by girls older than you. Yes, I was looked down by a couple girls when I first started off as a beehive because I just walked in from primary! But because I had my cousin in there with me .. she was there with me my whole beehive and miamaid year .. til I enter'd Laurel. Because of my cousin, I bonded well with the girls and we were close since then. So I was kinda experienced. LOL .. but im glad that I've done my part as a Laurel by making the young ones feel welcome instead of being scared to attend young womens every Sunday or any young women activies. One thing that Tulo's mom also said, "Because of you, Tulo can't wait to come to young womens again" =)
awww i really liked this post :) thanks for sharing- you are such a great leader! i remember feeling the same way when i first got into yw and it was because of girls like you, i felt welcomed and fit in :) xo
